Decal workflow

Let's assume I have a huge object I want to texture procedurally, but I also want to put on some decals, what would be the best workflow? Just put them on separate geometry with alpha?

hi mate,
if you don't have the complete uv set for your mesh, you could save some polygon selections and assign to them a mix material with the general mat in one slot and the decal in the second one, use the alpha of the decal in the ammount slot and that's it ;)
