This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for ArchiCAD, build 1.17a (STABLE RELEASE). This version is compiled against Octane 1.17, so see the requirements for that build regarding compatibility with your video card.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- ArchiCAD version (ArchiCAD -> Help -> License Information -> Version and Build Number
- OctaneRender for ArchiCAD version (ie. 1.02a)
- In the unlikely event of a crash, pls provide the dump report from the C:\Users\[username]\Graphisoft\BugReporting-[version] folder (on Win 7). Either post or email (to "paul at physicalc-consulting.com") the "ArchiCAD-XXXXXX-FATAL.RPT" file from this folder.

Change Log from release 1.16b
- Built against Octane 1.17
- Added additional debug information for certain error messages
- Deleting proxies (clicking Delete on the OBJ file) now works correctly
- If a proxy is instanced, it's origin is set to 0, 0, 0 (ie. it's position is not offset by it's position in the ArchiCAD scene)
- Added a material picking function (click on the viewport to get the material in the Material tab - AWESOME!). Enable material picking first on the Render tab
- The plugin will now generate scatter transform files. This is useful for creating grass (scatter a clump of grass 100,000 times). See "Generating Instance CSV Files" at http://render.otoy.com/manuals/ArchiCAD/?page_id=222

Also....
1) I will endevour to produce a Mac version in the next few weeks
2) Once AC17 is available (2 days time) I will compile a version of the plugin for that version of AC. Support for AC14 will be discontinued at that time.

I just noticed that you can enable focus and material picking at the same time. No big problem, but I'll code it so enabling one turns off the other in the next patch.

Paul I love you

(This is a real placement of one of my projects!!!)

Make the generator its a bit tricky... I put the object in the 0,0,0 and then works perfect..

I thought I had fixed that - but clearly not. I will post a fix for this early next week.

There are two other options which I will look into once I have some other things out of the way. 1 is an option to align the direction of the proxy with the normal of the mesh at the point it will be placed. The other is to provide an option that evenly distributes the proxies rather than randomly places them. That would work better for things like grass.

Hi Paul,
I did some experimenting with the scaterring and it is a blast :!:
I love to experiment with this and I have encountered the below:

At first I placed one mesh and succesfully did some scattering. Then I deleted the mesh used for scattering and tried some more with new meshes, but I got errors.
Tapperworks-report-130608-93.jpg
I started a new pln form scratch made two proxy (tree and legoman) and i made two meshes I want to scatter on. I can only scatter on the first mesh made and I cannot select the other mesh.
Tapperworks-report-130608-95.jpg
I even could not do the scattering on the specific mesh when viewing only the proxy and the one mesh.
Tapperworks-report-130608-94.jpg
I also renamed the ID of a mesh (my example is boomveld and it makes boomveld1, boomveld2, etc..)
it would be nice to have these names to slect for the scattering?

Hi Paul,

I got this error, but cannot recall how I got this.

Below you can see an event with 60.000 people :D
A lot of people went to the same store to buy their jackets
Tapperworks-report-130608-97.jpg
When trying to save the pln I got the error a too long name for saving.
This is a bit of a pain, because it might be a lot of work in future to rename a lot of objects?
I'll try more OBj's in my library to see of this occurs a lot.

greetings, Jeroen

Oh, and not to forget, this scattering proxies is fast, d*#%$#mn fast
I love it :!:

Hi Paul,
When playing around I notice I have to go back and forth a lot to a certain path and folder to assign OBJ.s, to save csv file in another folder, and so on.
Could it be possible to remember the latest path for different tasks.
When assigning a proxy it would great when it directs me to the latest path I have used for assigning an OBJ,
but when saving a csv file I want to be directed to the latest path I have used for saving a csv.
greetings, Jeroen
