Tip to change the old with the new one.
Uninstall the old addon with File -> Addon -> Uninstall
Select octane and press Uninstall.
Install the new one with File -> Addon -> Install
Select the octane.xsiaddon and press Install.
For changes in the UI, you must restart XSI/Softimage
If you have a saved scene with the exporter in it, you must delete the Octane_exporter in the scene explorer.
Otherwise the UI change will not shown.
After that, Done...
A little video:

Changes:
Export camera only for animations.

A switch to support Octane pre 2.3.

Particle scale will now supported.

Particle color now supported. The plugin generate a colormap and store them in your project folder for later use.
If you switch the project folder, the colormap will be regenerated.
Multiple projects in the same folder use the same colormap without regeneration.

If the PointCloud don´t have the attributes size, scale, color and orientation, standard values will be used.
It´s also not required to set these attributes.

The Octane path will be now stored in a ini-file in you pluginfolder.

Rendermaps are now supported, so you can bake your colors from the meshes.
With that you can use the rendertree and add procedural or other textures to the ambient channel.
All texture values can be animated.
The rendermap generate/export every frame a new map with the same name, so that you must not handle multiple texturesfiles.
The rendermap must renamed to "Octanemap" so that the exporter can find the map.
A workflowvideo follows...

The other versions for XSI6 and XSI7-will comming soon...

What size of strands do you want?
If you render strands with MentalRay, a boxed strand with a particle size of 1 has a real size of 2x2x2.
If you want the same size with a instanced 1x1x1 cube, the particle size must change to ~0.363

There are two options.

Number one:
I can rescale the instance shape that the result looks the same as a normal shape.
Means, that you can test your strands with a box, cylinder, capsule or cone shape.
If all is ok, you can replace the box or whatever, with your instance 1x1x1 shape and you get the same result.

Number two:
I can rescale the instance, that it looks the same as in MR.
Then you must test your strands with the instance shape and change the size as you want.
With that you have the option that the Octane render output should match the MR output.

I would prefer option two ;)
