Trying to get a render right with 2.3

I get way too much fireflies with pathtracing and HDRI is this normal?

Somebody got tricks?

It is normal. Down the road there will be a fix for it automaticly.

For now use this - http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... 075#p25075

plus - it seems to depend heavily on the hdri and specular materials used.
can't be more specific though as i'm tweaking myself atm...

Yes indeed, for the moment i haven't managed to get a clean render with pathtracing HDRI and bump/specular maps.

Defly is good but not enough for me.

Directlight seems to work... with bump and specular. Not with HDRI though, either way not with all textures.

I've seen some pretty clean renders around i don't think I get it. Which is the best version to render? is there a difference between them?

you probably have the bump map power on the gray concrete pieces (which are full of fireflies) way too high.
use a low value like 0.1 or 0.2 max and you'll have MUCH less fireflies.

Does it help to use the super sampling trick?

yeah it does, but those fireflies are you to the bump power being way too high.

Aside from the fireflies, the water has no IOR.

So, does the 2.3 have better anti-alias filtering? Rendering at 2-3x your intended size is OK for some, but I am required to make large res renders to begin with and 2-3x my intended size will kill Octane and my system. Anyone?

Ok, much less bump, IOR and supersampling. It worked.

I didn't manage to get more illumination without burning the HDRI plate neither in Octane or in PS. I suppose they are pretty accurate.

Need more hi-quality HDRI!! hahah

I like the results. thank you all for the tips! :D
