Lighting - I'm confused.

I'm trying to do a little test scene that is in an enclosed space. Have build the very basic geometry and started texturing before I noticed something strange. With no external lighting (texture or daylight), the internal lights do not bounce light around the room like I would expect, regardless of which kernel I use, or the depth I make the GI. The following images are with and without a lighting environment.

What am I doing wrong, surely, lights would light up the room better.

Perhaps this internal lights are not bright enough to bounce light in this environment with dark diffuse materials.

You can use the Imager node to add more exposure time or ISO to the render, and see if this help.

If you want to share the scene, I can also make same tests here.

I'm not at home at the moment so can't send the scene till tomorrow. The lights are at 500 intensity and efficiency. And the materials are glossy, how bright the colours are is making do difference.

I think that you are going to need the Diffuse light model to get a real interior lighting. Also I need to add more exposure time to see the lighting bounce effects.

Hmmm, then the lights are really blown out. Doesn't look good at all. Need to look into this as this s the first thing that Octane has done that I'm not impressed with.

You can use the film response and gamma settings to tune the lighting. Anyway I think that this scene has very dark specular surfaces that doesn't help to diffuse the bounce light in the scene.

The lighting inside Octane is physical accurate, you must test the tone mapping functions and tune your surfaces to get look you need.

This is what I was saying to you in the PM, I've tried this with white, diffuse surfaces and it isn't any better. I need to do more testing as I want to be able to do internal scenes probably more than external ones.

Could you post the scene file? I would like to give it a try with de AO shader. I think it can be done.
