Forest Superior. Average time to render - 35-45 minutes. Resolution 1920x1080.

and all without instancing

do you have some numbers? like meshes count, tris count; and how long did it take you to set everything up?

Very nice scene. There is something not natural though. Weird feeling. I think that it has something to do with light and shadows. Maybe the leaves lack some translucency.
This said, impressive scene without instancing. I love the water and fallen tree.

Objects in the scene quite a lot, about 300 lowpoly trees + hundreds of other objects: branches, grass, rocks, bushes, etc..
Total faces of all scene: 4769619.
I quickly set the stage for the renderer. I changed the setting of the water and the material for the material added stone speculare. Also configured light in the plugin OctaneRender.

How to make the leaves are able to transmit light?
Put a value around 0.2 or 0.3 in the transmission parameter. Enable this node if not available.

What I've got is not obtained. Leaves become whiter, and the shadows do not change.
