Hello guys,

I have a kind of a thechnical question.

I wish to make a film using much metalic caustics. see examples below wich are artistic setups from Julio Leparc, an argentinian artist:

All is done with a light and a metalic band

I'm currently trying to realize this with an octane light and some glossy materials, adn guess what?
I didn't do anything acceptable so far. I'm so far from getting what I want, that I think, I'm doing something wrong.
Pathtrace, pmc, whatever material used, nothing is convincing.

Would you guys have an hint or anything that might lead me on the right way.

Thanks a lot

you must use PMC for something like this, make sure your light bounce level is up - say around 12-16.
start by not having any environment light - it will be easier to see you light and the bounces - and I would start with the 2nd image circular wheel to get started - might be easier.

it would help greatly to see what you have rendered to make suggestions.

and play with the caustic blur parameter in the kernel settings for a more or less sharp effect ;)
please share your results, it would be very interesting ;)
