Hi,

will Octane ever have time line so lighting and/or materials can be
animated?

All the plugins support animation of this type into Octane too.

Octane Power Tools...I tried the demo ... it looks very cool, and may get it.

Do you know if JimStar's new plugin be similar? Better? As fast?
Not sure if I should get OPTs or wait for JimStar's plugin.

I was hoping maybe Otoy will add a timeline with keyframes to Octane in
the (not too distant) future so we can at least animate Octane materials
and the Octane sun.

RIght now (unless I am mistaken) Jimstar can clarify this.

You can animate the mesh itself that has light emission octane attributes (so you can resize it to zero or move it behind something etc... i.e. alter the effect of the scene as to how it is lit over time... but you can not key frame the intensity of the light settings or change its color etc.

Camera motion and all mesh objects are animatable as you can within Maya... you can change a Maya shader color over time... you can not change a octane shade diffuse color over time etc.

Can you do that in Poser Paul?

Poser takes the ambient power ("Ambient_Value") of the Poser emitter geometry material and uses it as the blackbody or texture emitter power each frame. So you can aminate the mesh position, shape, etc plus the emission power.

yes the maya integrated renderer can animate lights in all the different ways, and it is up and running now.

There a 3 options in the maya octane render globals about how the octane renderer updates, camera only, movable proxies, and all - you will need to select 'all' for your lights attributes to update properly.

JF.

Ok, I understand now.....JimStar's plugin is the Blender version of those for Maya & Poser.

I thought it was his own plugin (independent of Otoy).

Hope to see it released soon....then one for C4D. ;)

Later.....
just found out that OPTs works with both Blender AND C4D,
(also with Max, Maya, SketchUp, XSI, & Lightwave!).

So for me, it's the best/economical option......61.49 Euros vs 99 Euros each for Blender & C4D plugins.

Thanks Elvis,
дуже дякую! =)
