Trying to put together a GTX 590 quad setup. I have 2 classified and one Asus gtx 590 (so far, the other is coming) I see the GPU Clock on the Asus is 608 vs the Classified which is 613. I am wondering if there is a driver issue by running mixed 590 cards as I had it showing 6 cards in the device manager but windows updated the driver and now I only show 3 cards. Octane is only showing 3 cards as well. I have the Nvidia multi GPU disabled. Is there a problem running different 590 cards?

I have not seen a quad GTX 590 yet but I see Snake12 and Refracty have 3 GTX 590 and 1 580 rigs. Is there a reason why there are no quad 590 rigs showing for Octane? Do I need to go to a 3 590 and 1 580 rig or does anyone have a quad 590 working?

What do you mean by "windows updated the driver"? Did windows automatic updates do this?
I would make sure you have a clean install of 310.90 (download from nvidia and then go advanced/custom during install and there is a tick box for clean install).

Also once your system is confused like this, i find it's best to cut back to one card, install the drivers with clean install, make sure the one card is working then start adding more. Wait for windows to recognize and install the software for the additional card, once that's done. Restart, then check it's working, rinse and repeat for the 3rd card. I have had problems when installing too many cards and making too many hardware changes too often, i think windows and the drivers get tied up in knots somehow and stripping back and clean installing seems to work ok.

I wouldn't think different makes or clock speeds should be a problem...

Yes Windows updated the driver so after I posted this I did a clean install of 310.90 and you are correct it now shows 6 cards again. and I am pulling 19.21 in the benchmark. Also you are correct in the different version cards working fine together.

For some reason when I put in more than one GTX 590 I cannot get pcie slot 3 to work in my mobo. When I have a card in there my monitor will not work through the BIOS and on into Windows. It worked fine with 4 GTX 580 but not the 590. Anyone have a clue?

possibly because it is equivalent to 8 gpu?
perhaps a bios issue.
you might be better to seek technical support from Asrock.

Nice! No idea what could be happening with the 4th slot...
Can you tell if it's booting into windows? ie: can you see HDD activity and then you hit the power button and you see more activity (windows shutting down) and then powers off in a normal timely fashion?
I have also had problems with mobo's where it doesn't init the right display first - so try pluging your monitor into different cards and ports on the cards (if you can tell windows is booting ok)?

I may have been misleading. No I actually did not have 4 cards in yet, I just meant I cant seem to use slot 3 for some reason even with only 2 cards. I brought it up here because 2 other members are using 4 cards (3) 590 and (1) 580.

However, I just tried the (3) 590 and (1) 580 set up and again I lost my display on the boot up. I will have to wait to see if Snake12 and refracty view this post as to what they are doing.

I did try plugging in to different cards but no go. I may have to go into Asrock forums. I will keep plugging away, but if anyone has any ideas let me know.

I have a system with 3x 580's and 2x 480's, and another system with 2x 580 classified's, 4x 580's, and 2x 480's and they all run fine together.

Update- I set up using 3,5, and 7 last night using 3 as the display and just plugged in my 4th 590 into slot one and I now was able to boot with full display.

Caveat is windows only shows 3 not 4 cards in the device manager! Likewise Octane does not see the fourth card. Now what?

Try reinstalling the NVIDIA driver (310.90). Sometimes that helps.
