This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Poser, build 1.02p (TEST VERSION) - this is the STABLE release plugin code compiled against Octane release 1.02.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Poser version (Poser -> Help -> About Poser) - list the build number (eg. 9.0.3.23027)
- Also have ready a copy of the octaneplugin.log and cuda.log file from your Poser temp direction (Poser -> Edit -> General Preferences -> Misc tab to find the temp directory)

Change Log from release 1.00p
- Compiled against Octane release 1.02. That means it has the following additions:
- Post processing effects (see postproc node in the rendertarget tree). Remember to Enable "on_off".
- Environment - Importance sampling added (enabled by default)
- Environment - new daylight model - set model to 1 to activate it

Troubleshooting
- GUI issues (lock-up/crash) on large scenes (ie. 4million polys) - potentially due to the Windows Vista/7 "Timeout Detection and Recovery" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 87368.aspx. Settings can be changed using Regedit. The recommended setting for Octane are registry setting HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers, TdrLevel = 3, TdrDelay =10 (if these settings are not already there, rightclick the right panel -> New -> DWORD). You will need to reboot after changing these settings.

Limitations
- Loading a Poser scene by double-clicking a pz3 file in the Windows file explorer, or selecting from your "Recent Files" will not load the previously saved Octane scene data for that file when Poser starts. This is due to a Poser bug which has been reported to Smith Micro. Instead, use the Poser menu File -> Open to open any pz3 files which contain Octane scene data.
- Material Picking (by clicking on a material in the Poser Material Room) does not select that material in the OctaneRender material tab if you have a camera selected in the Parameter Dials window.
- If you delete a duplicated figure in Poser, when next reloading the scene, the figures may have been renamed, in which case the plugin will not have loaded the materials for the rename figure correctly. This has been reported as a big to Smith Micro and will be fixed.

Aww, man, how nice!
I'm sooo keen on the Importance sampling - it's such a time saver.

I really like Christmas. :D

The importance sampling is ON by default. The Ortho camera is in there too - it's the "orthographic" setting under "camera".

This new version sometimes does not start rendering when you open de viewport. No idea why
Just refreshing the scene makes it start.
This happens also when you start the plugin (which should read the entire scene since it has all the changes), but the viewport render opens and does nothing. Press refresh and then it goes.
If nothing was changed in the plugin this must be caused by the new octane version

No big problem, just something to look at

I added a car to a scene and got a cuda error:
Zay - did the old 1.0p version load the car? I suspect it's due to the car having a polygon with 2 vertices. I'm hoping to code the next plugin to handle this situation. Was the car a prop or figure?

Mmmm, that does sound like the new version of Octane. When the viewport is stalled, does the cuda.log file list any cuda issues?

1.0p didn't load the car either. 110a did. Was the same car I made 1.000.000 instances off.

I found 2 other cars that also fail to load. Same error. All cars are figures.

1.00p I added a check of the cuda log. The car is raising a cuda error. The same error would have been being raised on 110a (but being ignored) and manifesting in a lockup further down the track. Also, try exporting the car to a prop - the plugin loads props in a slightly different way, so you /might/ find it loads that way.

If you send me the car, I'll make sure it loads in the next version.
