Had to try to render a animation with Octane, so here is a turntable of my Microscope. When I modeled this I never imagend to see a turntable looking this good, it makes it all feel so much more real. not just something in the computer...well but it is...but you know...it's real...but it's not..eh

It's 1024 samples / frame, and each frame took 1 minute to render on my new awesome 480GTX

Hi MagnusL3D
And which was the render resolution 504 x 672 like the video in vimeo or higher?
Thanks

Resolution was 600 x 800, i think if you look in the down right corner of the vimeo page there is a download link for the original .mov if you want to download it.

By relative simply scene and resolution 504 x 672 makes GTX 260 from 240 to 300 sampels per minute and pixel.

Hey Magnus, I see on your link that you' re using Houdini for many videos.
Do you have stuff from Houdini rendered in Octane ? I' m also using Houdini and usually export through obj format, but the lack of mtl support makes it a bit hard as I end up with just one black material in Octane.
So, I' m just wondering if you have any tips&tricks on that subject !
Thanks
Bruno

@Tomas_P:
Yes If I had renderd it in the 504x672 vimeo resultion to start with It could have been done faster or higher samples for sure, I wasn't thinking about putting it on vimeo when I did it but next time I might think a bit ahead
@Br1:
Actually I run into the same problem, no solution for that yet though. I read somewhere in the future you could take in 2 object's and not just 1 in octane, then you could just generate several .OBJ from houdini based on material.
But you could ofcourse just open the .OBJ file in another program and assign materials there, a dull task if it's a .OBJ sequence, however I have a little idea how to maybe get around that nothing confirmed though.

Thanks MagnusL3D.
If wee elide the difference of scenes and setings is your video card circa 4 - 6 faster...

@Magnus : Yah, multiple mesh merging would help, I hope it' ll implemented in a not too far future version. Right now I go through Maya to assign materials but would be glad to skip that step. I didn' t go too deep in exploring the obj and mtl files, I think the obj has links to the mtl, so maybe I can build up a mtl library and just relink my Houdini exports by editing the obj file.
And btw, forgot to say, really nice turntable !
