let's see what you can get with pathtracing and the 2.2 multi-gpu version.
(on which we are hard at work)

I am really looking forward to the multi-gpu version.

I am ready to be surprised, with 3x GTX480 machine.

we're working hard on it.
if all goes well (keep fingers crossed) we might put some form of preliminary test version online tonight,
it won't be %100 optimized, and it won't be an official release candidate, but just something for people with multiple cards to play with and provide some feedback.

here's a first report of the working multi-gpu version. (default benchmarking scene with pathtracing)
there's still some stuff to do and the tonemapping is still not done on both,
so these numbers are not final and will go up.
with 1 GTX480 i get 3.91 MegaSamples/sec
with 2 GTX480 i get 7.01 MegaSamples/sec
so that's not double speed but 1,8x the speedup.
we should be able to get it up to 1,95+ with the tonemapping converted into parallel (currently it's serial).
still 7 megasamples/sec is awesome. image is clean after 40 seconds.

fast! How many samples/second with path tracing?
