Before loading one of these scenes load a prop into a blank scene after opening Daz and open the viewport so it begins rendering(no materials needed).

Then close the viewport and load your scene as normal.

For some reason the plugin gets stuck on creating geometry for the first time on some saved scenes.

This workaround has not failed me so far.
Thanks for sharing your workaround. Will give it a try.
Thanks Isotemod.

The workaround worked. One of my scenes that always got stuck in the building geometry and the running yellow bar loaded and rendered fine after I tried your workaround.

I have a request to add a missing feature : Visible Environment. Please take a look at viewtopic.php?f=44&t=72407&p=377687#p377687. See if you add this for us. It is present in the 2019.1.5 Standalone as well as in other plugins.

This is on the TODO list.

Thanks

Paul
Btw. Paul, regarding Visible Environment, may I know when are you planning to get it done ? It has been available on the standalone and other plugins for some time now.

Adding support for the Visible Environment is not an easy thing to add within the constraints of the current codebase, and would need to be done as a much larger body of work allow all the new Octane features to be added to the plugin. So I wouldn't expect this to be done in the near future.

I am not usre what you mean by this. Which version of the plugin and DAZStudio are you running? What do you mean by "unload memory"?

I think that GoZ like feature will be the Octane > System (tab) -> Export -> Complete Scene. It is manual and does not automatically provide a back and forth way of doing things like ZBrush does with GoZ. But at least one can export from Daz and import the scene in Octane Standalone and tweak and render it there. Things that probably may not work is Daz Dynamic hair, etc but at least the LAMH Hair OBJs will show up correctly. In terms of importing it back after tweaking (Octane > System (tab) -> Import -> Complete Scene) I am not too sure what will happen to the Material nodes that the Daz plugin does not support that Octane Standalone does. I am never tried importing but have done export scene and open it in the standalone and it does work. Will probably need to do some RnD.

Hi Rajib,

Thanks heaps for your feedback :)

Ideally, I would love to never leave DAZ Studio to render with Octane's full functionality.

Cheers Ady

Hi Ady,

You are most welcome. I too would love to be able to do that :). GoZ is so easy and seamless.

Take care,

Hi Paul,

Can we have the 2020.1 RC1 plugin ? I would like to test and see if the issue like the OOC memory, UV edge in SSS, etc. issues are fixed. I am desperately looking forward to the OOC issue being resolved because rendering any heavy scene is just about impossible in the current versions and a lot of my scenes are waiting to be rendered.

Thanks and regards,
Rajib

I tested a scene that always gave a memory error with OOC in the both the plugin and standalone with 2018.x / 2019.x and 2020.x up to XB3 and it finally rendered in the Standalone 2020.1 RC1 :) ! So whatever they did this time to the OOC code seems to have fixed the issue. Looking forward to the plugin release now. Many many scenes to render that I have not been able to render for a long while.

I’ve had the same issue, Rajib. Thanks for the update. Here’s to hoping we can enjoy RTX and OOC very soon.

Standalone RC2 is out, so I will do a plugin build with RC2 once the API is available.
