You can fire up one of the heavier scenes that come with c4d, delete all the materials and place a light source in there. That should net you a sizeable increase, if it indeed works :)

RTX appears to be most beneficial when you have a lot of objects or even better a lot of dense objects. If you create a tree field you should see improvements of upwards of 2x, sometimes even 5x.

Still, keep in mind that it mainly helps with the raytracing part. Put a single object in there with a crap ton of sophisticated shaders and you won't see a difference at all.

From some of my production scenes which are predominantly interior like scenes I've seen boosts from 20% to about 2x.

Thanks for the reply. It made me realized I was not properly thinking about how it would speed things up and was thinking everything would be 2-3x faster, which is the wrong way to think about it. The raytracing part is faster, and i have made some scenes with tons of objects and yes i am now seeing a difference with RTX off and on. So if 40% of the works is ray tracing and 60% is shaders, only the 40% that is raytracing will go faster with RTX on, roughly speaking. Thanks for the help!

Not a major issue but I'm just letting you know: the image jiggles a little when you slide the cursor between A and B images.
Thanks for your hard work!
Yes, I know it but didn't want to be late for fixing more critical issues. I'll try to fix it later.

i see the preferences_v2 file in %appdata%\OctaneRender\{374207c25da13b52bc0a2f110ad946e3}\ but ideally this setting can be set from within the cinema 4d scene file. is there any way to do this?

or possibly an environment variable? that would be really easy to implement.
i've been trying to replace the prefs file before the node picks up but its more tricky than i expected. hoping you have some suggestions :|

edit : just realized the OSL c4d shaders setting is not saved in the scene file either; is there a way to switch this on by default for render machines?
just so you know we have 150 machines and use a network installation of octane and our other c4d scripts/plugins so these issues come up.

What's another bug before this? I don't think this is a bug too, octane doesn't change any geometry. Double check and share a scene please.

Node connector lines appear in front of some nodes.
In this example I moved the Material Layer 2 node, but the other connectors remained in front.

Hi Ahmet!

Could you tell me where I could find previous reease? (2020.1-R1)
I tested it and it worked fine, this one is crashing once I open same files that yesterday worked like a charm....
Thanks!
