Hi Paul,
Weird problem in Poser2014 Pro:
Have Octane rendering in the viewport.
Change the material node type from a material with texture images in it from ex. glossy to diffuse
This crashes Poser with an error on wxmsw291u_core_vc_custom.dll (2 times in a row, then Poser closes)
This happens with both versions 1.14a and 1.16a
It does not happen when the material nodes are changed without the render window open.
It does not happen with materials with just RGB values.
It is independent from the scene, any object, even the simplest primitive, with a texture provokes the crash.
This does not happen wit Poser2012 Pro (on the same machine).
Extra info: i use a seperate videocard (onboard Intel HD4000) for Windows. The Nvidia card is dedicated to rendering alone.

I have been though the latest version and installer in detail, and not found any issue. I've downloaded the installer form Otoy (same link you used) and it installs and runs fine.
Some questions....
Have you installed Windows updates in the past 24hrs?
Have you installed any Adobe updates in the past 24hrs?
Have you installed a Reality3 update in the past 24hrs?
Has anyone here been able to install and run 1.16a4 successfully?
(i have system restored to get the old version back 1.16a4 working fine)
Chopper - you have 1.16a4 running now? I am confused....
Thanks
Paul

No, sadly that's no longer the case with the new version. clicking on the image button now always takes me to the last used folder; it did work with older version, though not for "ocs:..." images
You are right Uwe - I will fix this.
Can't check more with the new version at the moment, because somehow I screwed the plugin installation completely, and can't start it anymore. Haven't figured out why still (something about an error in OctaneConfigutation.py, if I recall right) and went back to an older version for a render.
If you have a python error in OctaneDefaults.py, this will cause an exception in the plugin. To fix this, just delete OctaneDefautls.py and re-run the installer, which will create a new one.

This looks like your Poser Pro 2014 python installation is corrupted. wxmsw291u_core_vc_custom.dll is a PoserPython file. I suggest re-installing Poser Pro 2014.

So far there appear to be 3 users who cannot get 1.16a4 running - and everyone else can. For the 3 users who cannot get it running - what virus scanner are you running pls? Also, have you tried re-booting?
I have repackaged everything and re-uploaded, just in case there is some odd firewall or file corruption issue. This version also fixes Uwe's problem.
1.16a5
- Fixed issue where clicking the "image" button was not bringing up the current image's default directory.
New version is available at the original link at the top of this thread.

the new installer has fixed the issue 1.16a5 is working now !
look like a installer problem.
yes i tried rebooting.
and run KAV 2013 Ant-virus##
Also as bizarre as it sounds you say the server may have corrupted the installer.
The only thing that seems to change over the last 24 hours so is the forum
With the new updated version. So indeed, you may be correct on that

They are essentially the same installer. I'm pretty sure if I re-uploaded the 1.16a4 installer if would have fixed your issue. I wonder if the system restore you did rolled out an Adobe, virus scanner or Windows update that was causing the issue. Or maybe Otoy web server was doing strange things when you downloaded the file.
