Hi all,

i have done a quick test version with some requests of users. I wished to share before doing a release. Hearing the some impressions will be great.

Download link for 2.05.0 rc1:
http://render.otoy.com/customerdownload ... c1-win.zip

Some of changes, saving user materials to livedb to can be recognised by Standalone(for atome451).
Fixed settings issue on saved settings dialog.
Wrong LV size issue after doing render to picture viewer.
Also some other minor fix/improvements

This version is based Octane 2.05 and it has this change:
"Exposure is now independent of the gamma. I.e. changing gamma does not change the whitepoint anymore."

This can cause different render results due exposure change. Need manually tweaking the value to match results.
Formula is that:
newExposure = oldExposure * pow(118./255., gamma - 1.);
Details in Standalone 2.05 topic:

Thanks a lot Aoktar!

The material names and preview are now recognized well in standalone. It works fine. But the two way transfert between Standalone and plugin isn't always ok: when there is node groups in standalone connected to a mix material node by sample, it's not recognized by the plugin and only partially downloaded. The global feeling is that is still a little bit chaotic and very sensible to the node structure, especially for the materials coming from standalone.

Sometimes, when i add a material in the DB by drag and drop (in a blank zone of the window), the system replace also the preview of another random existing material. If i delete all .TGA files and reopen the DB window, previews are correctly refreshed.

For me, the settings are still hidden, even if they work. By sample, paths are working but hidden when i restart C4D (even as admin).

One suggestion about DB: in every OS, icons are above text. I think it could be more understandable and "natural reading" if you put material name under icons (and not above) in the DB window.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your hard work. ;)

Hey guys,
updated yesterday, as I was having some crashing issues. Think it was something to do with how mix materials are displayed in the editor. The update seems to have fixed that, however I still get an issue, when applying a new mix material to an object, cinema often closes, with almost 100% certainty. Reopening the scene and applying the material is fine though.
Just thought I'd let you know. Using windows 8 / C4d R14 / GTX Titan.
Thanks for all your help, guys!

Sorry. For the mix material, it's my mistake. I've made some tests in every directions and it occurs only with old materials with unfound textures, not new ones.

For the hidden settings: every tabs like Account, Paths, Other (the path to the standalone .exe by sample). If i give the path to the standalone .exe and ask to "Edit in standalone", nothing append. I've tried to remove the oct.dat from preferences to refresh it but it changes nothing.

If i go back to the 2.03 version, everything is fine and settings are restored (even settings encoded in newer version and lost after restarting of C4D).

you should send scene to LV before calling. Because it's transfer exported data.

Yes, i know that. Nothing happened after sending scene to LV. Normaly standalone should start, even if the scene isn't refreshed in LV. In this case it didn't, like the path to the software hasn't been found.

And it's not the reason because all settings disappeared since version 2.04.1 of the plugin and are restored when i install back the 2.03 version of the plugin...

Hi Ahmet,

just want to give a short feedback.

2.05.0 rc1 seams to handle mix-textures correctly now.
No more disappearing of preview-bitmaps in mat-editor
as well as in thumbs (turning grey) in mat-manager.
Also mixing with a alpha-texture shows up in preview window
fine now. In main C4d View and in LV.

Very good, at least so far!

Thank you very much!

regards
Mike
