It seems that editing the medium (absorption, scattering) in one material of a material mix does not force a refresh. Can anyone else confirm this, or is it just me?

What is the advantage of exporting to stand alone instead of plugin?
You can render your scene in Standalone and continue working on other things in Poser. And it will enable rendering in the cloud once that's available.
The Exception message "Exception in OctaneRender for Poser objectsAdded" is very reproducable for me:

Start Poser (which loads Andy),
go to Pose/Universal Poses/Action/Comic Book in the library
Double click on "Hero Action 01" and I get the exception.
It only happens once after the start of Poser.
I'm still not getting this error (although potentially something in the next version fixed it). I run Poser (Andy default scene is loaded), Render->OctaneRender, AutoRefresh ON, Open Viewport, apply Hero Action 01. Perhaps double check this one with the next version I post.

You need to have a Transmission (ideally RGB 256,256,256) plugged in before the Medium will have an effect on the material.
The second issue (changing pose does not update Octane view even when Autorefresh is on) does not happen with the poses used above.
I have made a pose and put it in my dropbox, try with this one:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/771 ... ngPose.rar
Copy the pose to your content directory
Start poser and activate Octane
turn Auto refresh ON
click the pose and notice that Octane does not update the display.
I have investigated this one - and it is an anomaly in the Poser event system. I have coded a work-around in the next version.

Yes, Octane is popping a Cuda error saying the files cannot be found, but is still loading them. Otoy have picked this up and it should be addressed in the next release of the Octane API (1.24).

I actually couldn't reproduce that phenomenon just now, but instead I got another issue of a material not refreshing the render. In a mix material, material1 glossy and material2 diffuse in my test, editing any parameter in material1 does not force a refresh. I just tried this using a Poser primitive with one material. Material2 (diffuse in this case) responds normally to parameter edits. Again, is it just me?

There are occasions where a material change does not restart the render. There usually is a second condition which is needed to make it fail. When I find them, I report it to Paul and it usually gets fixed in the next version.
For now - when it happens I just toggle smoothing off and on again - that triggers the refresh

Example: I usually have autorefresh OFF because it makes both poser and the plugin's user handling slower. I only turn it on when I change things in poser and need to get immediate octane feedback.
But having it on or off may influence the behavior of the octane viewport refreshing at a material change. Usually the octaneplugin.log will give Paul a chance to discover something like that, but not always

I have refreshed the installer at the top of this thread with:

1.24.0.14
- Compiled against Octane 1.24 (so LiveDb download cuda errors should now be gone)
- Fixed issue where reconverting materials from Poser for a Figure/Prop was not working
- Fixed issue where if a Diffuse_value was 0 in the Poser material (and there was a texturemap attached), a diffuse color of white was used in the Poser material
- Poser "Material Room" actions will now cause the mesh to be reloaded into Octane if AutoFresh is ON. This gets around a Poser bug which fires Material Room events when applying non-material poses.
- Fixed refresh message appearing when rendering animations (when Smoothing Angle is set > 0)
but instead I got another issue of a material not refreshing the render. In a mix material, material1 glossy and material2 diffuse in my test, editing any parameter in material1 does not force a refresh. I just tried this using a Poser primitive with one material. Material2 (diffuse in this case) responds normally to parameter edits. Again, is it just me?
If you notice this again - can you take a screenshot of the plugin material tab, with the material that isn't refreshing the Viewport expanded?

Thanks for the update Paul... you may want to change the version number in the first post at the download link so people actually click on it as the new version number.

Me again... hate to be a pain...
But this is what I get after loading the scene I was just working on with the 1.23.0.13 version...
Notice there is no material list tree unless I right click on it and select expand all.
Second image is without "Extended Library" script open or running.

There has been a change made to Octane 1.24 in the transform positions code with the plugin is not handling correctly - I need to check with Otoy prior to fixing it.....back to you soon.

I have refreshed the installer at the top of this thread with the following:

1.24.0.15
- Fix to a critical error when converting materials which resulted in a "Key Error: 3" error introduced in 1.24.0.14.
