Thank you for this nice feeling, but I'm not asking for a special treatment.
This said, for my own, and even if I earn very few, as I wrote some time ago to Radiance in a PM, I would be ready to pay more for a standalone version !
But I know that the words "paying more" will probably bring some blood in the ears of many people...
The idea proposed by David in a previous post,
of one activation per week sounds like a good compromise that would benefit to everyone, I think.
I would really like to have the opinion of Radiance on that point.

Thank you David ! It is comforting to see that at least someone understands my situation.
@kohlrabi_Croce
I already use removable hard disks and put them in a safe when they are not in use (imposed by the client and insurance as well as the burglar alarm), but I don't understand how I could work and render without the disks in the machine ! Even if I plug external drives after opening the internet connection, it doesn't change the point of view of the client.
If I had plenty of artistic works not requiring secrecy, all these things would have less importance, but the only and rare market around here for CG works so far is prototypes visualisations for hightech industries, and they are untreatable about security.
Please, stop saying what my clients should do. I don't master what they want, and if they have such security politic it is their right.
You are not my client, and if you knew well people managing big companies, you would understand more my situation. They are not patient at all, and if they came home one time to inspect my studio, it was the first and last time. They can have the job done in many places around here. The last thing I heard from them is something like "don't bother us with such arguments, we have no time for that. You know the condition stated initially. If you can't comply..." you know what it means.
As said before, I have put a lot of efforts and money in advertising, and despite these efforts, I have had no new customers for around 2 years, so you should understand that I have no other choice than trying to serve them at the best of my possibilities.
You know what, you are coming off as pretty rude. I was trying to help.
You stated earlier that the problem with what Terrence proposed was:
what happens during the router setup. I was trying to come up with
a solution to that.
So much for that....I wont try to help you any more.
I hope your clients are also French and not American
or British. Oh wait, you probably don't want advice
on that either. My bad.

I didn't want to be rude, and I apologize if I seem to be. Maybe it's due to the fact that it is not my native language.
This said, I have already explained in many posts before that I have absolutely no contrĂ´l on the requirements of the clients, and I must admit that I am a bit tired to repeat the same explanations. Please, understand me !
Best regards,
Philippe.

So stop explaining and try to work out something with radiance privately, ok?

Hi guys,
I'm going to close this topic as it's going nowhere.
Why don't we all just get back to doing our usual things, discussing possible new futures for future releases, making renderings, posting links to HDRIs and free tools etc...
No point in flame wars like in this thread.
As i said before, have patience and decide to complain when 2.3 comes out.
I will be glad to help people like roubal with the technical aspects of setting up a cheap/safe firewalled router system so he can use 2.3 and later versions, and i'll be happy to do this for other people if they have a need and ask.
However, we cannot diverge from our plan and make releases that only need once a week a check or others, as it simply won't work, you're thinking in anti-piracy 'phone home to check' terms, which are crackable, and not in 'Octane Live' terms.
'Octane Live' is the name of the new system we're developing btw.
