Deprecated, because of technical and practical reasons.

Tested with Plugin 2024.1 R2 and C4D 2025.0.2. The same scene renders correctly for the older combination of 2023.1.3 R4 with C4D 2024.5.1.
(I'll upload the scene if useful, but it's all standard objects and the default Directlight. I played around with the rotation order, but none seems to fit and YZX is the default for newly created Directlights, so I stuck with that.)
There was a problem because of scatter node improvement in Octane Core. It caused double matrix effect because of this and our export structure for this light type. Please use 2024.1-R3.

Hi, Aoktar
Using R2, I noticed using the Info Kernel, tweaking the settings, closing the window and reopening, the settings are back to default.

Hello, I've a question regarding the Universal Material.
There are two ways to create an Universal Material and the result will be different depending on the method chosen:
- Creating an Universal Material from the Live Viewer Menu will result in a material with the Lambertian Diffuse BRDF model
- Converting a Diffuse Material into an Universal Material will result in a material with the Octane Diffuse BRDF model
So I was wondering what the best way is to create an Universal Material with the optimal BRDF model, and if it will make any significant difference.

I think it's just a matter of different default creation settings. Universal starts by default with Lambertian BRDF, and Diffuse starts by default with Octane BRDF. When you change a Material type, it keeps whatever BRDF model it's already got unless the new material type does not support that BRDF model. There's no actual difference in the Universal nodes themselves, as far as I can tell.

Was the problem/file I posted regarding cryptomattes confirmed? I'm having the same issue in the latest release.
If this isn't a bug, perhaps it's just different behavior between Octane 2023 and 2024?
Cheers,
Mike

Hi there,
got last days, after neary a year, again lots of crashes with C4D 2025.0.2 and latest Octane 2024.1.3-R3.
I'm using Driver 32.0.15.6094 (2 x 4090) which worked very well and stable for a long time with C4D 2024 and Octane 2023.
Does anyone else have this problem with this combi?
Should I change to a newer driver version with Octane 2024?
regards
Mike

I just opened a scene which I made a month ago. And suddenly my Octane Composite Material Metallic looks completely different (HELP).
This is how the metallic material is supposed to look:
How it is looking now:
The material is based on a GreyScaleGorilla metallic material.
What has changed is I'm on the newest Octane Renderer, I migrated to a clean installed Windows 11 (coming from Win10), so also newer Nvidia drivers I guess. I'm on C4D 2025.0.2
Could someone please help? Sample scene of a sphere with the material included.
