This is a bug.  It only exists on the diffuse material.
If you start out with a glossy material the pin won't be there.  You have to activate the pin in diffuse mode then attach rounded edges to it and swap to glossy or another material type to actually use it or even see the pin.

Having a bug not surprising but I don't see anything like you said. Round edge is hidden by default. How do you create material?
