Sorry, I don't understand.

Does it matter where you use it ?
If an image is in grayscale then it uses less memory and you can use it where ever you want, it doesn't matter if you put into a Diffuse or Bump-Input.
Autodetection shoudn't be a problem, if you have no Colorvalues and only Brightnessvalues then an Image is in grayscale.

I recently installed the plug-in and I'm not sure its working properly.
According to the tutorial I just watched it supposed to render in the viewport, yet when I try I get checkered background.
I then set the path to the executable and it launches OCSA. Did I install this correctly?

Hi, it seams you have installed and activate the Octane exporter from the user yoyoz.
It is from the days Blender for Octane from Otoy even exist.
You have nothing to install except Octane Server and Blender for Octane.
Deactivate the Exporter and activate the Otoy Addon if needed.

I got a scene in which the rendering shading normals either from render passes or info channel stops working after first frame. :(

I am really trying hard to use Allegorithmic Substance Painter/Designer with OctaneRender Blender, but without luck.
I have tried almost everything, and its not working.

Now i have discovered a Blender user who have made his own nodes, to use with Substance Painter/Designer.

Is it possible to create such nodes for OctaneRender Blender, so we will be able to insert the right maps from Substance Painter/Designer to create cool metal textures?

Or is it a way too big task? (i personally have no idea)

I would be reeeeaaallly happy if Jimstar could make such nodes :-)

I've done a clean install of the Octane server and Blender Octane. If I open a default scene and set to Octane and Rendered in viewport shading, it renders just fine. But if I try to render by pressing the "Render" or "Animation" button it renders just a black image.

Windows 8.1, Nvidia Geforce GTX 580, 16 gig ram, 64 bit.

Hi,
It's the engine bug. Will be fixed in next engine version.
As a quick workaround - just set the "Distance" to any value greater than "0", and autofocus will work.
you can set it back to "0" too, iirc.

That worked...sorta. It rendered one frame and then stalled.

Then when I clicked "Back to previous"...

The server crashed.
