No it's on a new scene! I don't know why, it worked when I installed it but now that it's not auto-loading, it crashes..

MentalRay can change the shader by a particle attribute, also the color of each particle.
At least with Softimage, should be also possible with Maya...

I have a question: in the standalone version you can specify the focus point by clicking in the scene, it's very useful. Where is that option in the Maya plugin? I can only check/uncheck the Auto Focus, but I cannot find the pick focus option...

Question - Does the maya plugin work with the kepler build ?
580's seem to be harder to find for suppliers, in NZ anyway.

Sorry, bit off topic but I believe Nvidia have stopped production of the gtx 580 and 590. and with us having such a small market here in NZ we probably just ran out of stock first.

This is something Nvidia don't usually do, when new lines have come out in the past they have usually kept a generation or two behind in production as a lower cost option. I think this time they knew that the GTX 680 would be slower for GPGPU work and are dedicated to forcing this type of computing onto the more expensive Quadro and Tesla ranges. The last thing they wanted was to drop the price of the 580's as then no one doing our type of work would have bought the new range let alone a Quadro or Tesla!

In an IPR active render you can use the render region to select the focus point. It will set focus to the center of the area you swipe out.

I have made a script to control the focus of the octane camera if you want. Just pick your camera and run the script, the locator will control the focus distance.

Thanks for the info T but I do believe my post is on topic because as it looks I need the maya plugin to work with the kepler build because It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to build a system based on fermi for the reasons you have stated - I can't find any 580's (3gb) to buy..........
Can the plugin currently work with the kepler test build? if not - could someone from Otoy or the render team give some advice on how I can move forward in this situation since I have just accepted a large project but now it looks like I can't build the system I need for it...
thanks in advance..
