This time i can't agree more.
I got a project with 3000$ budget to render on ORC, 2500 frames that takes too long on 4 of my 980tis
I thought i will wait for the 15th to start experiment with ORC and start rendering next week, but hi no, you decided that you are not ready yet.
This is fucking unprofessional.
it's also fucking unprofessional to wager on the relasedate of a software when you have to do client work.
it's not that otoy made a contract with you, you just fucked it up by betting your whole job on that date.

I must say, I'm not so annoyed by the delay, but rather the lack of communication. In the future, as soon as you know there's going to be a delay, you should tell us. And the title of the forum post should be "3.00 Release Delayed" not "development update" which I almost didn't click on when trying to figure out why there was no 3.0 on your site yet. I don't mean to add to the negativity around this. I'm really not that upset about it, but in general I would have a higher comfort level with continuing to use Otoy products if there was better communication coming from you guys. Just look at your home page, which I don't think has changed at all in months, maybe a year. A link to "Render the Metaverse" is still on there, which closed almost a year ago. All of your customers are creating beautiful images daily- why not showcase them on the home page and keep it looking fresh? I know that you guys care more about getting the work done, and that's great, but your website communicates the opposite- that you don't care.

Hey, Otoy, has anyone already told you that your customer support is pretty bad at the moment?
I've got a very bad gut feeling about this. Sudden lack of communication and negligence of customer relationship is often kind of an evidence for a company heading south...
Otoy, please! Communicate!

The lack of communication is horrible. If you guys would make an announcement on your page just keeping us in the loop that would be great, but unstead, nothing...

Guys are you really mad because you have no immediate answer from Otoy a Sunday ?
Furthermore there's already an incredibly precise statement by Win:

Nope. I would always try to understand the issues my team go through. If someone is a p*ss taker, I wouldn't want them on my team. I want to trust my people implicitly - if a team I managed missed a deadline, there was usually a very good reason. This doesn't mean I enjoyed having to explain it to account people or clients of course, but that's the job

. I was actually being a bit flippant as nowadays I'm a TD.
