A little news about the gradient shader.
It is now possible to use textures as colors. Also alpha values and textures are possible.
Because it´s impossible to use the same ui which the original Softimage gradient shader has, i have implement an info which shows the current used markers in her position order. So you know, as example from the image below, the yellow color is used by marker 3. This marker can be textured with color 3 and alpha 3 and has in the image a checks texture.
You see also, the gradient shader shows the editable name of itself like the Softimage ones.
This is also implemented on all existing Octane shaders.
Hope you like and understand it, that little things like this take some time to implement,

The next new is, that you can use an IES-Profile in various ways to emit light effects.

Hello Face,
The next part is to implement the mapping types to the other shaders. Which is only a copy/paste.
And then, i don´t know. I think it is then time for a first RC version...
I'm working on an animation that require Motion Blur, any chance to have your new version sooon ?
When I see your shader network sample, I realize that I do not use all the power of Octane : do you plan to make a documentation for each node ? Also is it possible to use Octane live material library within softimage ?
Kind Regards,

The texture conversation to the new mapping types and the new api is done.
Have found a bug in the post shaders which i want to solve.
After that i can make a release candidate...
The LiveDB is a feature which is in the future, haven´t make a deep thought on it.
Maybe it´s possible to convert the LiveDB materials in Softimage presets.
A documentation should also follow, which is filled from time to time, because it´s time-consuming.

This is the last thing i try to implement before the first RC of 1.02.
I think one main missing feature is gone when i implement what nobody needs, instances
After some days of hard work with trial and error, they are working.
Only some bindings to Octane must be done.
The scene in the image below has 3 cubes, 1 plane and 677 instances.
Hope you like it,

Not realy a roadmap, only some things in my mind.
But i can make one.
Roadmap:
- Instances, nearly done.
- Release candidate for 1.02.
- Bugfixing, implementation of shader compounds, playing with render region, tweeking motion blur rendering, which looks a little bit odd and bring back the shader preview, which must also convert to the new Octane mappings.
- Final release of 1.02.
- ICE particles
- ICE strands
- Switch to 2.0
...

Have you finally found a solution about Render Region and Octane ?
