A little question, now the liveDB is supported is there a way to import my own macro material inside blender? is there a place where the live db is cached on hard drive where i can put my ocm ?

i would like to convert my octane project for blender, but my project materials are too much complex for rebuilding everything in blender ;)

Thanks
So far it is impossible. A lot of work is needed to add the local database feature...

Ooops, I see the bug in RGB colors of materials taken from LiveDB. Will be fixed in next version very soon.

What do others think about it?
Personally I have never rendered anything to 16000 samples. While shading & lighting in the standalone I use 32 - 64 for preview. Id say 64 samples for preview, 1024 for finals

I just can't understand why do you need to stop the preview render at all.:) As I e.g. never change it from 16000, and it just gets better and better before I change something again... And it does not interfere with work, as the different card is used for display... But I'm not 3D-artist, so perhaps I do not see some other reasons for this...

There are no artistic reasons for this. I just don't like needlessly overtaxing the graphic card. When setting up materials / lights / camera, 64 samples will in most cases give you the same useful feedback as 16000, so running the card continuously is just a waste of power, imo. I also set up most of my shaders "blindly", ie. with the render paused, and only use the preview when fine-tuning parameters.

Hey ! Yes i agree with you !
For me too, 200 samples are enough for a preview.

Also, is it possible to add a little "lock" radio button in order to keep the ratio while changing the render size ?

Final question : In order to hide the planes emitting the lights in my scene, i just put the opacity to 0 into the material settings.
It works but the problem is that these planes are still displaying the shadows of the others planes.
(I can put a picture, if it's not clear !)

Thanks a looot

The Portal shader is used for this functionality. Surfaces with this shader will be completely hidden

OK, so I make it 100/200?..
