Hi I dont know if this is happening to anyone but i've installed the plug-in in max 2010 and 2011 and when I go to project path to sect a folder to save it ...it gives me Max scrip message that says "no spaces in folder name". I've tried all sorts of folders with "no space in the folder name" and it still gives the same message.
Now if I select use existing project then it shows the project path and name correctly but when I press render, I get and error that octane has encountered a problem and needs to close and max crashes.
Can you please give me soem Idea as what to do
Im using WIN XP 32

hmm..i thought i fixed this.
well for now make sure your whole path has no spaces: "c:\Program Files\Octane" won't work
because of the space in "Program Files"

texs importing fine using a different map id channel for each objet
camera view on reset is ok now , great !
which types of light does octane import from max ?
for multi channel renders does octane allow multipass at the moment ?
if not workaround maybe is to render simple model in max and extract alpha,direct lighting mat id obj ids and lighting to composite mat ids allow me to select objets for modification or tweeking in photoshop final file essential for fast modif on tight schedules..!

Octane does not import lights, i think 2.3 will. No multi channel either.
There are som workarounds to make matte passes, search the forum i don't remember where it was.

umm... tried another scene from my archives (max2009 file) it had 4 cameras
first export brings in 0 out of the 4 cams
then i cut out all but 1 of the cameras reexported and

still no cam import ..
am i doing something wrong here ?

Did you select the camera in the list first?

i am just exporting in obj format the file with 1 cam in it .
what use is the max to octane plugin to me to export cams etc ?

The camera position/rotation/animation gets exported to octane.
Did you get it to work? If not, make a test with a box and a standard camera.
Reply with your win/max/max2octane/octane-version.

using the octane exporter only fires up octane installation file (as if to install the programme !) it does not create the .ocs file either ..
i have no luck in exporting cameras either ...
help
