I hope to get that stuff done as soon as possible. I'm doing this work late at night, when I have some spare time, which is unfortunately not much during the week.
Small update: On PCs I can now launch and watch processes from C4D, which is essential if relinking, animation export and other things should work. I'm trying now to implement the same functionality on Macs, which is a lot weirder. When that is done, the rest should be pretty much straight forward. Let's see. Have to go to bed now.

not yet
not think and just start a contest on animation where some are unable to attend ... but I do not want to create disruption to participate in the contest ... thanks anyway for the valuable work you are doing.

+1

That doesn't help to import from MoI, but the plugin helps exporting the same from Cinema again. at least this works. (maybe I have to select 'Tris and quads' when exporting from it. something to test later.

Probably I misunderstood you, but the Octane Export plugin is purely for exporting data and not for importing. The OBJ import in C4D comes with the application itself.

I know.
To make it clear:
I have modelled my laptop in MoI, exported in obj, imported in Cinema, arranged and rendered it. Cinema and Maxwell work both fine to render it correct.
Importing the same obj file in Octane results in some strange artifacts in the render.
But: if I import it in Cinema and then export it using the Octane plugin it renders fine in Octane as well.
edit: here is the
before and
after using the plugin to make my point clear.
Do I have to take care about a setting in MoI concerning the polygons? How is Octane handling n-gons? Might this be the issue?

I think it's the same issue as
http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... =23&t=1973 .
It seems (I didn't know that) that a face in OBJ files can have more than 4 vertices, i.e. it can be an n-gon. Octane probably doesn't have a fancy triangulation and fails if those n-gons are concave. That means, if you can disable n-gon export in MoI you probably should do that.

Good news: I think I have the Octane launch and control from Mac C4D running. I will do now the implementation of launching Octane together with geometry relinking and camera export. I hope this will take a couple of days. This will then be 0.02. After that I will look into animation export.
