Paste the content here and I`ll check it.

edit:
it looks like a path on your drive, settings/m/My...
if so, it`s probably the space in "My documents" which breaks the code.
..
here the code and I changed the 3dmax render output to C:\renderoutput to ease the problem..fine

octane -e -m Octane_export.obj -s 100 --daylight-sundir-x 0.0 --daylight-sundir-y 1.0 --daylight-sundir-z 0.0 --cam-focaldepth 353.478 --cam-fov 45.0 --film-height 480 --film-width 720 --cam-pos-x 251.883 --cam-pos-y 1136.02 --cam-pos-z 73.3415 --cam-target-x 119.932 --cam-target-y 1026.86 --cam-target-z 382.567 -o C:\renderoutput\Octane_render.png Octane_exp_default.ocs

the maxsamples is set to 100 which I can change without issues BUT as soon as I try to change a material it crash and exit...I'm nearly there..

very nice, this script is working... one thing thought, is it possible to use the "interpolate using smoothgroups" option? the settings just keep resetting to unchecked!!!

hmmm... I don't think so, I spent quite some time trying to change this after the mesh is imported, relinking the mesh, nothing... (That's why I PM'ed you for the 0.21 because what I tried was RC 0.21, therefore I should try again with the newest verision of Octane)

is there any fix to avoid octane crashing as soon as you touch a material? :(

Like someone mentioned the other day in the C4D forums. Is it possible to have the script export the next frame while waiting for Octane to finish rendering the last frame? That way when Octane finishes a frame it instantly opens and imports the next frame.
Should speed up renders.

Can someone please provide some guidance as to how to set up the exporter for 3DS Max. I don't mind going through some extra steps but I do need a bit of help.
I just purchased Octane and after installing it I don't see any documentation or help or any max scripts. I found this discussion thread and downloaded the RAR file and unzipped it to the Max 2008 root. Is this the official Max exporter? I don't see one from Refractive SW in the downloads page.

I can open up the Customize UI panel and select KillaD on the Toolbar panel but I'm not sure what to do next.
I don't see the Octane Export panel that is shown in the screen grab at the beginning of this thread, or the Quick Access Toolbar items on the right.

If I uncheck Hide, I get a floating Animation Layers toolbar.

Any assistance that can be provided or a link to the install instructions would be much appreciated.

Thank you :?
