Hi,
I ran some tests and I can indeed notice some lag with the control panel and the material editor. It improves after the first time the panel is opened, but it’s still there. I’ll send the video to the developers to show them the issue. As for other types of lag, I haven’t been able to reproduce any problems, but if you experience any, please send me a video and share the scene so we can document those as well.
Regards
Paride

It's better to send scenes in private messages, so we can catch bugs faster.

There’s also a bug: when trying to select, for example, a Glossy material from the Octane shader list, the interface lags and jumps, causing frequent misclicks — it selects a completely different material. Yesterday I tried about five times to pick the Glossy material, but each time it switched to another one, as if the shader types were loading with a delay, and while the program was “thinking,” the item under the cursor changed.
The interactive viewport is also very sluggish — it freezes, the “refresh viewport” buttons respond with a long delay, and voxelization of even simple scenes takes ages!
There shouldn’t be any delays if the scene is already loaded into the RTX 4090’s VRAM — there’s plenty of memory available. I’ve disabled system RAM usage in the settings, which means the software is likely trying to reload something every time I move the viewport. That’s my assumption

Octane sometimes renders itoo display proxy as actual proxy and not mesh. Point cloud works fine especially when using legacy mode

There is even lag when open render set up dialog. It takes about 2-3 times longer to open it. It opens for a split second, disappears and then opens again

Hi coilbook,
Are you sure you set the mesh option correctly in the Display > Render panel in iToo?

In OctaneRender® for 3ds Max® v2024.1.2 - 15.13, there are noticeable freezes during interactive rendering — even when adjusting a simple color, the slider moves with significant lag.
I suspect that this issue might also be present in newer versions. There’s a strong possibility that the problem is related to the NVIDIA driver. I don’t recall having such lags in the 2024 version. With about 90% certainty, I believe the issue is caused by the second-to-latest driver version.
GPU: RTX 4090, driver version 581.57.

When denoiser is on (on completion) render times still go up a lot. From 1 min per frame to around 2 min even though the actual denoising times at the end is like 3 seconds
Are 5090s now utilized at full capacity? They used o render as fast as 3080tis
