Could you share a scene where it happens with? And steps to reproduce - even if it is inconsistent?
Sorry, I meant the latter, yep - C4D crashes to desktop. It does still show the standard "application error" message right before it closes (the one referencing bug reports and recovery scenes).

I can't share the scenes it currently happens with as these are work related, unfortunately, but I will try with some personal projects over the holidays and see if I can reproduce it. (Can I simply PM you a Google Drive link to a c4d file if I find something?)

Steps to reproduce: Currently, it seems to be just 1) render in the LV, 2) pause render, 3) switch to a different custom layout via the top right menu, 4) render again - and then sometimes it crashes, before any rendering starts. But it's not a reliable trigger. =/

@Tim0042
Have you tried to rebuild the custom layouts from scratch?

ciao,

Ah, good point - some are indeed still from 2026.0. I've now done a test where I only jump back and forth between the standard layout and a new custom one, in a clean new scene with just a cube. After switching layouts and hitting the LV render button without issues six or seven times, C4D did eventually crash. This was when trying to start a render in the standard layout, curiously, so not even the custom one.

I will try again on my pc at home. For personal stuff, I could also switch to the Octane 2026 plugin, but at work we'll likely be on this version here until the current project is done. =/
