here is a very simple sss i use:
its works *olrit* but could definitly use improvment. any idea ? (i can post a more detailed pic of settings if requested)

more !
the mix is set at 0.4 here - ie toward Diffuse (0.6 on the previous post for add specularity/sweat)

If you're looking for something missing, look into a fall off shader. Possibly add that after your mix with SSS. (Your render shows that your SSS works just fine.)
