oh yeah for sure disable screensaver and standby modes as radiance says, thats a winner.
Ive rendered over 10.000 frames in octane over nights and whatever. Only time I had haults was in the early days, but the bugs was fixed and it has never happened after that.

definetely, screensaver off and everything's all right... Rad you think this might be avoidable in the future? Still, happy the solution was so decievingly simple :D

Not sure, this seems to be an interemittent os issue. I can run a screensaver here without issues. Are you using an OpenGL screensaver ?

If I remember correctly, I had an issue with Octane crashing on a screensaver as well. When I switched to a different screensaver, Octane worked fine. Sorry, but I don't remember which screensaver it was that caused the crashes (but it was one of the standard Windows 7 screensavers).
