I have a default scene that is empty except for the ground plane and a (invisible) cube from the Poser primitives. That cube is for scaling reference and it's visibility is switched off because I only need it temporarily. It seems to me, that this causes the problem. If I load up Poser with my default scene and turn the visibility of the cube on, then everything works fine in the plugin. The error occurs when the cube is invisible.
Hope, that helps, if you need more info, just ask.
Uwe - if you could post a screenshot of your plugin Settings window - and post exact (ie. keystrokes/menu commands) for producing this error then I will have the best chance of replicating it and fixing it.

OK, here it goes:
1. I start Poser (nothing else, just with the default scene)
2. Render - OctaneRender
3. Settings - Open vieweport
4. Autorefresh ON
5 Message "Refreshing Vertices" and error message apears
6. Close the Plugin
7. Switch the cube to Visible
8. Repeat from 2 - no error.

Thanks Uwe. This is fixed in the next release.

Hey,
I had to build a forest, so i was looking for instancing with Poser or the Octane plugin.
On your blog (Paul) I found the following topic.
http://poserphysics.blogspot.nl/2012/11/instancing.html
Following the instructions. I placed one palm tree in my poser scene.
Opened the Octane Render plugin window (1.50.22)
Setup my palm as a scatter instead of a mess
Generate a transform file
made it 10 total instances (with a 1000 it was a waver of trees)
After that add a 0.1 for position randomness (tried 0.01 too, even just 0.0)
No rotation and no Scale change...
I open the viewport and get... flying trees... so the scale, rotation and position values are ignored...
Included the render of my flyings tree.
Love the idea of instancing in octane.. but apparently it ignores the values for randomness (all zero still flying trees)

Yes, you need to make sure the prop being scattered is at the scene origin (0, 0, 0). I will update the manual regarding this.

Auto Refresh is off... so why!oh why! every time I add objects to my scene or take them away... bloody Octane goes off and does it's fuzzy thing about regenerating! I think I've ask for better user interface before... but I guess it's more important to get the dynamic hair in a static image with no lighting in a darken room underground with moonlight above shining on a manhole lid from the top viewed from the bottom is more important.
Just jokin' ya Paul... but please... if it says Auto Refresh: Off... then don't regen in the open viewport until I pick so... such a pain!

Deane - it needs to refresh the scene in the Material tree panel so that you can edit the materials for the newly added figure/prop. Otherwise you would add a new figure to the Poser scene, and then need to shutdown the Octane plugin and restart it in order to access the Octane nodes for the materials on the new figure.

I know... it's what I do... but for some reason it's a pain in the arse... add knickers, take away said knickers... add other knickers, can't post those knickers to Octane forums... change knickers to bloomers, acceptable to forum... cover top bits with non-see-through material from poser mat file, change top... too revealing for thumbnail and anyway who is gonna dress like that for battle with a troll... change top to suit heavy metal.
Point is Paul... 90% of people work this way a s a workflow... I dare anyone to say they load figure, clothing, textures, expressions and any other life Octane changing stuff first off an say...man I got that scene right first time!!! Come on dare ya!
Poser/Octane is about change... it's about experimentation... why can't Ii change bits out of a scene like I would Poser normally and then say "Update all" textures and geometry... it would give me the time to be creative instead of worrying about the 5-10 minutes pause between changes.
Paul! great addon to Poser... interface on this creative process... sucks... guess I have to put up with it... since I'm the only one that has this workflow.
