I just did some tests. it's working in theory, but a bigger scene of mine absolutely refuses to render.
if I remove all textures it does start rendering but it is doing so incredibly slowly (0.15 Ms/sec).
anything I can do to help?

Trying to get this running on my M2 Studio Mac with Blender but the server zip (OctaneXPrime_for_OctaneServer_MacOS_2024.1-29.14-stable) unzips and app that is grey'd out and wont open/run. Running Sonoma 14.3.1 on my machine.
Any ideas what to do?

Anyone run into issues with the Planetary Environment with the new C4D_2024.1-R3_OSX? When paired with a - plain black RGBSpectrum - Textured Environment (set to Visible Environment), the Planetary Environment (set to Primary environment) completely blows out anything in the scene. Noticed this after updating to C4D 2025. Tried the same Octane version with C4D 2024 and same results.
Also, would be great if there is a resource for Planetary Environment especially how to use the surface textures.

Hi, thinking of getting this souped-up Mac mini:

- Apple Mini M4 Pro
I realise it's not been tested with Octane yet, but would anyone hazard a guess as to what the
OctaneBench score might be?
Thanks

Hi,
in theory, it should be slightly faster than M2 Ultra, but you cannot test the speed with OctaneBench yet, you need to run the following alternative bench scene:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=75411&start=1320#p421617
Here is the latest chart I have, probably all results need to be redone with OctaneRender 2024.1, apart from iPad Pro results, I guess:
It would be also nice to have results from new M4 Max chip of new MacBook M4 version... it should be the faster chip for rendering.
ciao,
Beppe

Are you considering the base 24 GB of uni-RAM or more?
The minimum strongly recommended would be 48, out of the three choices.
24 will soon or later be too low given the fact that less will be available in-practice.
That's good to know. On MacOs 12 Monterey I've managed to work even with 8GB Ram, but I think the latest MacOs is more memory-hogging
