No really. i'll not reply if there is no image which show the problem. Ok thanks.
Have you ever checked the saved files? Even 64 maxsamples is enough for a good result. This is just a presentation problem for Picture viewer on alphas.

To tell me, that this is a presentation problem in picture viewer
would have been possible without image.
(Especially if it was not possible to upload an image
when I made that first post)

Anyway!

but another question to this topic:
you say, that 64 max samples is enough for mask passes.
The max samples setting is for all info-passes, and does not
touch the beauty-passes, right?

Because to see that's expected question, avoid unnecessary posts. I'm over 5000 posts.

hi miohn,

have you checked the "premultiply alpha" tap in the cameraimager in the octane settings?
Had similar problems lately, that helped cleaning up the edges...

i don't recommend this. Will generate wrong pixels for compositing. Of course you can do, but not correct way i suppose.

Hi aoktar,

ok, thanks for your advice.
Have to do more testing with passes... I`am still on 2.16.2...
maybe I should give 2.21.1 a try again, but had some stabilty problems when first tried it out view weeks ago.

Will there be an update with the latest fixes soon?

Keep up your great work!
Thnx,
ChrisVis

Hi,

no I did not use premultiplied alpha.

But the alphas are o.k. when using them in composit.
I know, I have to go deeper in the multipass system and
there are things/setting , which are still not clear for me.

What I understand or think so far (also from watching the good
tutorials postet last)is, that you cannot do all passes in one go.
You have to decide, whether you want lightning-passes, layer-passes
or just beauty and info-passes. I always tried to get them all in one rendering.

But withing a stressful project I forget the one or the other
and when problem occures I try to get a fast solution here in the forum.
So in that case I did not check the alphas in PSD or AE first.
(Sorry Ahmet! I know that you're always busy as well)

I also have some stability problems and some crashes from time to time, but
I don't want to stress here again. I think/hope, that it will get more stable in next updates.

regards
Mike

Hey,

Apparently there is a Bug with 2.21.1 on Mac. (It is fine on Windows)

1. Put a "Scattering Medium" into the "Medium" Channel of an Octane Material.
2. Save, Close and Reopen the File.
Result: The "Float Textures" will be deleted from the "Absorbtion" and the "Scattering" Channel of the "Scattering Medium"

Thanks for the great work,
Cheers

thanks for last posts. I'll try to release a better version when a new sdk comes out. also please don't post messages without bug report and detailed info about crashes, if you want to help me for fixing the problems.
