Hmmmm. Using the rotation seems to have no effect on the lighting of the scene at all. Does it matter if it's a sphere, hdri cross or panoramic hdri?
You need to change the projection type to Spherical in the Texture Environment in order to rotate the IBL.

Finally I was brave enough and updated to the latest build .. and WOW, there ARE indeed maaaany changes, compared to the 1.20.xx build, I was using until now.
I really need to get my head around all that
The most significant thing I noticed was , that the whole scaling of image maps did change. A lot. So many options now. I often use(d) seamless textures, for walls or floors and all that. Which took me some time, to get the scale right, back then. Now everything has changed, so it seems and it starts right over again LOL. Where previously I had a scale (float1) of 4 or 9, it's now 0.2 or something? Aye ... gonna take some time to figure out all that again.
But thanks Paul, for this huge and amazing update of the plug in. Chapeau!!!

Hmm, I don't see that option. Is that new in the latest few releases?

Yes, the 1.23 onwards builds add all the nice texturemap projection options from Octane 1.23+.

I have a strange issue with a poser figure in Octane. Poser renders the figure just fine.
The following screenshots are taken after I have hidden everything but the face and eyebrow and simplified the materials for those two as much as possible. They are both just glossy materials with a diffuse component. the face is opacity 1. The eyebrow is opacity 0 in the first two screenshots, and one in the last.
same settings but from another viewpoint. Note that the render error has changed:
Finally, with opacity of eyebrows 1:
What is going on here? It apparently isn't the material that is causing the trouble as it is as simple as it can get.
Note: This is with 1.24.0.15. I have NOT tried this with 1.20 yet.

2 surfaces too close to each other. Then this happens. Select the eyebrow and make it invisible in Poser and refresh the scene.

Octane is merging or self-shadowing the vertices which are on top of each other. Setting rayepsilon to 0.000001 usually fixes this, although in some cases it's best to use the "eyebrows gone" morph.

I have refreshed the installer at the top of this thread with:
1.25.0.16
- Compiled against 1.25
- Changed the material conversion process so that if the Diffuse_Color is black, but there is a node plugged into the Alternate_Diffuse, the Octane diffuse is NOT multiplied by the Diffuse_Color. This should resolve issues converting eyebrow materials.

Thanks Paul... do we need Octane 1.25 for this to work?
If so... where is the link in the massive forums to download it?

Thanks,
this fixes the issues I had with material conversion. I will try to find more problems next week
RGUS, as far as I know you need 1.25...
The new version can be found in the first post of this thread.
