I have used Octane under both win 7 64 bit and xp 64 bit, both works. But i prefer xp. It seems like there is some kind of damage to your system, so there is probaly best to reinstall windows anyway. Xp would be good then

Check if the mesh or textures path contains unicode characters (Russian for example).

I've had a big problem with the new Demo, but finally figure out the problem from this post.
Had 0.8 8000demo working fine, then installed new Demo 1.03 + CUDA and drivers etc, then Demo ver 1 loaded with splash screen and would then crash every time.
I had accidentally installed the dev toolkit for CUDA, once I uninstalled it - bingo!, demo 1.03 loads fine everytime.
Guess it must have been a conflict or sumin.
64bit Vista, 8800gt.
