The new COPs work via op: syntax in general.

The problem is that I can't get a displacement map from COPs in 16 bit. It looks like all the textures are converted to 8 bit ignoring COPs settings and I get steps when apply the disp map using op: syntax

I tried to specify explicitly the amount of bits in COPs settings and in the Octane texture node. Also I tried to bake a disp map with the Texture Type set to HDR. It won't work (

If I save a disp map into a 16 bit tif file using ROP Image Output, then it works as supposed to. Unfortunately it's quite cumbersome way of using COPs which undermines their flexibility especially when you deal with an animated displacement map (as I do right now)

I use Octane_2024.1.0.1_Houdini_20.5.370_Studio+_Win64

Hi rand0mograph,

please can you send me a sample of your file and/or an image of your results. I will have a look and double check on things.

Thanks!

Hi,

The op:syntax doesn't seem to work in Solaris. Is this on the roadmap for future updates?

Thanks!

Hi Andreu, honestly I am not sure. Pleasure post to the Solaris sub section to be read by the appropriate team members, thanks
:-)
