It shouldn't be an Octane issue but rather a LightWave limitation...

I believe!...
No, sorry Carlos, that is not what I'm describing there, people are probably missing key point here, INSTANCE polygons are used just for placing instances (imagine you have Polygons 2*5m with shorter edge and you use 100 of those to place car son the car park, you don't want those polygons (placeholder for car position and direction) to be visible eon render, you just want CARS that are instance don top of those. So CAR are ON in scene editor, but placeholder polys are OFF in scene editor.

Currently, in 2020.2.5.0 that is not possible/working while in all other previous versions it DOES work that way.

Nope, I've been using this simple trick for a long time now (using deactivated "support" geometry for instances)
That's a problem if it's broken in this new version

Lewis is right, this use to work. Tested in Octane 2020.2.4.0.
Confirmed: If you hide the instancing object in this case a cube the instances still render in older versions.

Shaun.

Sorry for my point of view

Can you set polygon size to ZERO for that intancer placer? As a work around?

What if you use "polygons size" option :)?

P.S. I know some workarounds but regardless this have to be fixed.

how about the beta version of octane 2021 for lightwave - does it exist at least for the "elite" who are allowed to beta test?

Strange - such a simple question, but still no answer. At the same time, beta versions have already been released for all other packages. Should we consider, in this case, the lack of information for 2021 for LW as a signal that the development for Lightwave will be discontinued?

I've updated this topic adding a new 2020.2.5.1 build including a fix for the bug in the instancing rendering introduced in the previous version and the macOS build.

Thanks,
