When i get this kind of problem as getting some Cad from clients, i'm used to convert everything to vdb and convert back to polygon and doing some retopo on it (or not if not really needed).
Fun fact, if you cranck up vdb resolution high but not too high, you will get a nice bevel. But it's not very tweakable for sure.

This is dirty, i know. :-) Too much smooth and not a nice hard bevel. Not for hero object for sure...can do the trick for secondary one.

the wire one is the same mesh result with a wiresop

I see your point we have done that for a while but is not the best solution as you mention to still a task to be done when just a feature on the shader which is already there to be fixed, sounds better no??
Anyway we get the point.

I've downloaded 2018.1 beta for MODO, where you promised to fix the round edges problem, but it still exist! I'm also the one who's waiting only for this problem solving before my team stats to work with Octane for most of our projects.

The Octane 2019.1.2.0 plugin build has a fix related to the rounded edges, but I'm not sure if it is the same problem that you are talking about. You could check it to see if it helps ...

Thanks,
