Hi grimm,

It seems to be some compatibility issues based on your descriptions.
Could you please try to render an empty scene(switch to an empty renderlayer) with the same file? If the denoise is still deficient there, could you please PM the buggy scene to me? Thanks.
PS: you can remove all the objects/meshes/textures, just the empty scene with buggy octane settings unchanged.

Cheers,
DrawFun

Hi Drawfun,

Sorry for not responding sooner, this kinda got down the rabbit hole. Per your request I started removing things and testing the new window option with denoising. I discovered that it was only when the spider's legs were included that there were issues. I did several tests one by one, eliminating things like the hair particle systems, and doing the polygon clean up tools in edit mode. Nothing worked so I went on to looking at the modifier stack. I noticed that the legs had a subdivide modifier applied to them, and I checked to see if OpenSubDIv was enabled on the Octane settings. It was and when I turned it off, the denoiser worked great.

So it appears to be an issue with OpenSubDiv or some other related issue. Hope this helps. I tried to make a simple example file to upload, but I couldn't replicate the issue.
