Trails? How do you make a setup? They are hair objects for octane and it's different to use with colors.

Hi Ahmet,

XP trails contains per vertex data for the trail. it can be used to assign and control a gradient of color along the trail
Can this be achieved with octane?

Best,
Guy

I'm not sure what you mean but did you try my samples from the link?

Hi ahmet I did.

Didn't see an example of a gradient color going along 1 trail though (for example, blue at the tip of the trail, gradually moving into red at the end) . maybe I'm missing something....

Thx,
Guy

You'll need to use "W Coordinate" for that.

Is this version different to the previous released Version 3.07.0_Test3a. Just asking if I need to download it.

One issue with network rendering:
when network rendering setup is successfully done in a scene this setup is not stored. After opening this scene again, the slaves are'nt kickin' in and I have to reassign them manually.

Anyone with the same issue?

Ahmet, ty :) i totally missed that.

Another question regarding trails:

Is there a way to use the trails data like age and speed? or does it only apply to particles? i tried dropping the trails object into the instance color node but it doest effect the trail colors as it does on particles

InstanceColor is not hairs, but geometries. How do you make a setup in default renderer for that?

Im not sure ahmet but u are the magician :)

I also tried it on sweeping the trails into geometry still the same though

Maybe this will explain better what i mean.

Trails that can get the same color as particles based on their age, speed etc
