but "Octane_Gear.png" must be somehow octane related or maybe an internal thing,
because in the Octane-Texture-Manager there is no such texture listed.
On all my HDs I cannot find a "Octane_Gear.png"

Anyone heard or knows something about that?

thanks
Mike

Hi Ahmet,

was not meant like this, that you added something. ;)

Just asked if someone knows about that "Octane_Gear.png" and maybe has
an similar experience or has an idear whats about.
(I only know, that I never intentional added a texture like this to this project)

This texture, detected by chance during the "save project with all assets", was the reason for
the massive lags on my system, which made it nearly impossible to work on that project
during the last days.
And I want to research further about this strange missing texture-thing.
Hope you understand this!

regards
Mike

Mike I can check your scene and find that what's causing or containing this. Check that with just materials and send me if still happens or send me a full version of your scene.

Maybe this info in the error helps:
Asset E:\Logos\Octane\Octane_Gear.png (") lässt sich nicht finden

E:\ is the SSD-Drive with my actual jobs.
I never ever created a folder there with the name: Logos\Octane\...

And in windows I have the option "show all elements" or "hidden files" always on.

After jobs are finished, I save them on a NAS and delete them from this SSD.
Maybe months or years ago there had been a folder like this on this SSD. Don't know.

If C4D is searching for a folder named: Logos\Octane\Octane_Gear.png I suggest, that
is has to do with Octane plugin.
Could it be that Octane from an earlier version needs this png and got somehow confused?

thanks

two more strange things:

- When I delete all objects from that scene and only leave the materials in the scene,
I do not get the "Octane_Gear.png"-error when saving project with all assets. ???

- When I remove all other plugins except "octane" and open this scene, I get an error,
that "RealFlow plugin Wetmaps is missing" O.k. I played around with that plugin some days ago,
but I never ever used that plugin within that scene (because it would not make any sense
to use it in my actual project)

Maybe my hole system is totally messed up (like me)

regards
Mike

SOLVED!

So maybe helpfull for all others who have same issue:

There is a scene called "OctaneSpotLight - Freebie.c4d" available from inlifethrill-page.
I have really no idear, why that spotlight-scene needs a "Octane_Gear.png" and if so, why was it
not enclosed with the c4d-scene-file?

So, in my case, in every larger project with high polycount or higher material amount, where I used this spotlight,
I got that performance problems because of that missing texture.
I still don't understand why, because in a simple new scene there are no issues with that spotlight!

Please don't get me wrong Dobromir! This spotlight is a really nice freebie and as well I like your
tutorials very much!!!

Maybe you or someone else can anyway again have a look at this thing?
Maybe its only causing problems on my system???

thanks
Mike

The octane gear png is probably a leftover from some earlier tests I did. Has nothing to do with the plugin or the setup. It's not referenced by any of these. Just grab the spotlight rig, copy it to a new scene and move on..
