nice tests,
if you dont know you can first try to calculate exact number of lumens or footcandles that you need in some room for some particular need or any other space,
then with that number you insert correct number of light sources with correct light distribution IES and you will see real life result
If we could only somehow see, how many lumens gets on some plane in scene then octane render could be used as light designing software !

Another quick 20 minutes render, it seems renders cleared much faster using IES lights compared to area lights..
Notice the nice shadows coming from the lights above picture frames..

Please excuse my basic questions,
the IES files are asigned to a square 1x1 polygon right?
And how do you keep the emission while turning the emitter itself invisible?

In this case yes, lights its assigned to a single poly square and opacity is 0.00.

I have found another link to a description of IES lights.

The web site also has links at the end of the article for an IES Light Generator ??? and suggestion for the best Viewer

I haven't had time to try out the generator yet.

First time to use IES profiles, I found this website with loads of profiles for their product. Can any one help on how to save and download the file? Everytime I click on one profile all the figures come out but I don't know what format to save it. Any assistance would be a great help.
