One thing i notice is that I have a lot of crashes if i have corona proxies in my scene and open in 4.21. The only reason we have corona proxies is that this was the standard before Karba made the Octane proxy. Not so much a bug but would be good if the whole max didnt crash, as it makes it hard to do update a scene to octane Proxies if it crashes.

Again, material library is not converting..
- the library, you know the thing on the side and you drag and drop materials onto objects - not converting..

- the materials from the scenes are converting, but the library (with hundred materials) is not
- I get blank materials

Hi acc24ex,
I replicated your issue, everything seems to work properly with the library materials.
Attached a screenshot showing how the conversion works well.
did you read the mini-guide converter?

Hi, voltaire585
I checked the issues you had but I failed to reproduce your case;
It seems to works fine.
could you share a scene where happens that issue and crash?
Thanks for your contribution.

I didn't get any crashes here, I did all that and it looks the same - but did you try and drag and drop that material - it's empty - it looks the same as yours thanks for the detailed tutorial, but I did that previously -

- as I mentioned, it's also a .mat file that is created with max 2015 and 21.1 kernel, all other stuff works pretty good so far - Good job there, you finally made me switch to octane 3 for profesional usage .. only this isssue with loading .mat files

- ok, just drag and drop those materials inside the node editor, as I said mine are empty

here's my test material in the attach, please try it out - same thing on two computers, every information about color and texture is empty, but it looks rendered in the preview icon, there's a gold material that I recently updated, that one works, and maybe a few, but all the others default even the RGB values to gray

- also where do I send in a .max 2017 file where I just got a crash rendered in 7x7k and directly saving out?

PS
- also (not that applicable, I got a severe computer crash while rendering and collapsing a fairly complex mesh into editable poly, while live rendering.. not sure if it's the drivers or faulty memory, but this does happen on my old PC, not the new workstation I'm on)

Hi acc24ex,
I tried to do what you said, but no issue happened.
Maybe I did not understand the question. could you kindly share some screenshots please?

did you open any of the materials, drag drop them onto slate editor

- they look ok as thumbnails but are empty when opened

- also try rendering this in attachment in 7x7k and direct save - I get a crash every time, max 2017

this - you drag drop a material that looks fine, and it doesn't
octane 3 material bug.JPG
- works with materials already on the slate editor

Hi acc24ex,
I verified and reproduced the issue you had.
Your issue is very unusual, it happens in your scene but not in mine
and after I opened your scene, all scenes had the same problem.
If I close my 3dsmax and the restart, everything goes back properly.
I will do more tests and then send the issue to the developers.
I would like to recommend to you a possible solution that should work.
you should convert a mat.file using a new blank file, save a copy of it.
Open the converted mat.file, checking that everything is ok, then open your file and mat. library should work fine.
About the issue of saving and crash, it is known and should be fixed in the next update.
You could use the 3dsmax frame buffer in the meantime.
Thanks for your contribution.
