yeah @ Liketheriver neither case is pretty, that's for sure. Definitely not the bell of the ball by any means...

The X9 does seem like maybe a better option. I was a little iffy on whether there was enough room from the base where the mother board lays to the top of the case for all the hoses. Seems like it might get pretty cramped and the hoses may be kinked a bit or something.

@ prehabitat I'd love to put a m.2 drive in here, but would I be able to fit it on the board with 4 GPUS?

there's little to no different between products from ASUS & AsRock. Most of SKUs are comparable if they are targeted at the same users or price range. All companies use mostly the same components. But there are some exceptional boards that will do wonders (however You should know downsides as well)

x99 (e) ws (e) if You compare ASUS to AsRock are very simillar..with pair of PLX under the hoood they allow a lot of expansion. With some bios issues, You can make them work great with 7GPUs - & then they do wonders. Comparing boards from different price categories..doesn't make sense though.

Noticed You were into 7GPU build as well =) here is some inspiration & thoughts on this route.

how do you menaged to make it working with 7 gpus? I've read in some forums that the asus was afflicted with bios issues with more than 5 cards, they had released a fix?

I knew it's possible, 'cos it's been done with older asus motherboards liek the original one for "supercomputer" (link on the article), but then there were a lot of (unsolved) issues on forums (even official Asus threads..). The thing is with 7 GPUs, is that You need to enable 4G functionality in quad configuration, that allows more devices to be seen, before You populate all 7 Slots. Other thing.. as this do not always help.. You need to have enough & stable clean power. Some Guys here (that own systems with 7 TitanX) managed to run stable only when they split their GPUs 5 on one PSU, two + system on other. Why that goes: is it spikes on boot, is that drop due to efficiency.. sort of cold boot issues - no One knows.

Once You go this route, be prepared for surprizes, fried motherboards, f(*& up bioses that bricks Your rig..'cos technically even if it's possible.. actually noOne on ASUS takes time to test motherboards with such configurations - & that's not my words or thoughs.. - cool ideas are cool ideas but be prepared to have some propper fun experimenting & going this route =)

by the way, as mentioned, build log is going to come with tons of pictures & informations. There was a huge work done by Sebastian, who used a lot of time for experimentation & testing this out. Again, the end result, I believe You would agree, was worth the sweat =)

Ofter 900D and TT Core X9 - the X9 is a definite winner, not only due to its horizontal mobo layout which is extremely important in gravity force reduction that heavily affects PCIe slots, but also to its incredible functionality - 3x480 easily fitted there, less fittings, simple and more effective drainage system.... If you don't mind wider case - which personally I prefer - go with X9.

I haven't got in touch with Asrock yet, but it's worth to examine whether Asrock X99 WS E (with 7 slots) does support 7 gpus without a need of manually setting 4G decoding in bios on - this is the only reason why Asus sucks and for now they are quiet as for new bios.

Hey guys! So I ended up pulling the trigger on the 4 hybrids and the thermal take x9. So far everything fits great EXCEPT...

The 4th GPU is conflicting with the HD audio and USB headers on the x99-e WS motherboard. I can't push the 4th GPU all the way in due to the cables sticking out.

Maybe there's an easy solution, I'm pretty green to PC building.

Any suggestions?

Incase anyone else has this problem... I picked up some breadboard jumper wires with flexible ends and they worked great to give more clearance. Not the cleanest solution but I got the 4th card in.

Hi can you tell a bit more about that? Or where to find some info? I can't bootup with more than 5 GPUs in X99-E WS(USB3.1).
