This is really just an answer against my previous post.

Updated to the 3.0.20.107 plugin. It seems that the function for in-application authentication has been brought back.
Once authenticated... and it did take a few tries, but that may have simply been accessing the server, it has allowed the standalone and the plugin to be active on this (my) machine.

I tried it this morning offline and it worked fine.
