I see hat I can do, never done taht before but... I'm about to update to 2.1, did you tried that too? tha other concerne of mine is the out of memory from plane obj, did try on other objects like extrusions or solid and had no such things although NOT every obj imported get scattered UNLESS I use the Brush tool, I'll update with a video

There is something else going on. It works for me on Octane 1 as well as 2. Check your PM!

The scatter file should be exported in meters. Octane standalone doesn't have a setting to import scatter files in other length units.

I think the millimeter scale of the grass mesh is wrong too, it seems too small side to me.

So the entire scene from Rhino should be exported in Meters? anyway, the phantom scatter tutorial (not saved from 1.52 ) works fine, I need now to tune several aspects of it BUT it work, except the scene saved from 1.52, upgrading to 2.1 (finally) but useful information as I thought that the importing in octane of scene in millimeters was sorted out a while ago...(?)

OBJ models you import in Phantom Scatter should be in meters. Exported data in CSV files is always in meters because of that, not need to scale that in Octane.

but the obj file attached in my previous post IS in meters BUT Phantom Scatter is not scattering any data on it, it is a solid split in 2 main surfaces were the scattering is to apply to the 'surface' material, it doesn't and it is not the first time that happen despite is just a stupid plane

Notice how in the source & range preview on the bottom-left corner on the screen, only a few bits are highlighted.

Try putting RANGE MIN to 0 and RANGE MAX to 100.

right..getting close to a better understanding AND use of your soft, one thing though, which value control the scattering to actually stay in the scatering area? I have my obj flying over AND spreading OUTSIDe the scattering area that I can see from the preview

1. Make sure the surface you are importing into Phantom Scatter is NOT double-sided. Phantom Scatter will work with the geometry you give it, so don't give it geometry that you don't want to scatter on. I take it this a Rhino OBJ exporting problem again?

2. My software will never put stuff ouside of the surface of the OBJ you imported. Make sure that the OBJ you are scattering around in Octane (the piece of grass) is placed at the center of the world (0, 0, 0). (as stated in the manual figure 06.1)
