There is another problem with the Live DB. As you are already aware it crashes when I click download. I have a brand new $1500 windows pc with good internet connection and nvidia 1080 graphic card. I am disappointed with rookie problems that that stops you from moving forward. I spend 600 on octane thinking i will get thing done faster but I havent made a dime.
Octane's displacement is not working with pre-tesellation of triangles to produce extra triangles for better results. So user have to make some job of this stage.
Check this scene from video text for a displacement sample on a character. Not that you may have to change mid-point parameter for displacement if that's not corrected by automatically. It should be old scene which is done with V2.

Also download in livedb was temporarily buggy in your version. Pls update to latest one.

I am having the same issue, I have been playing with amount and mid level with no success. I get ripping in my model, is there any soultion to this because so far none have been offered :( Don't understand how a 600 USD render I paid for doesn't having a work displacement.

Hi,
please, post some screenshots, otherwise it is quite difficult to understand if it's an OctaneRender displacement limitation or an incorrect setup. Most of the time the issue is in uvs.
