That joy can feel only people knowing suffering of the endless renderings in Maxwell or artificial results in Artlantis.

Friendly community here is another gain!

Hi Marek,
I sense some recognition
Mine (dark history) is Artlantis...
When they (Abvent) chose for Maxwell render kernel... that was the end for me
Gladly at that same point I 'met' Octane and went blind for it buying a 4x580GPU machine while I was still strugling with learning Octane
That was scary, but I just went for it. Glad I did.
And yes, you are so right about the friendly community... Love it.
What is your story

Hi rappet,
Struggled with apps you've mentioned and also had to go through Sketchup for using my old vray licence every time I needed something better.
Several years worked on HP notebook workstation, good for a little more than office and 2D CAD, but not much beyond that.
Ended up this week with the investment in good hardware and Octane as I definitely finished my manager's career some time ago and came back to architecture.
Actually it was a last minute decision as I was ready to buy either an upgrade to vray with the RT or Thea. Both excelent pieces of software but with one downside for me - Sketchup as a necessary factor. I was fed up already with that and found AN ANSWER.
Thought for a while also about Twinmotion, Lumion and LumenRT but, again needed something more convincing for the clients already "spoiled" by a very competitive market.
Still my blind going is the animation in Octane as the clients are also more aware of "ease" of making video for the design presentation. Well, every day it's getting only more exciting! (Yeah, right...

)

Hi Marek,
Thanx for sharing and nice to meet you
I can say camera Animation with octane using the archicad plugin is very easy.
(Animating objects other then cars is another thing)
If you need any help... Just drop your questions on the forum.
Cheers,

My guess is that it might be something with the reported by AC missing textures or the non Latin letters in textures names or their long names...
I wouldn't have thought that to be the problem. If you can get the crash on a small scene, then sent it to me, I will fix the problem. I you cannot reproduce on a small scene, even the original 1GB is fine via a dropbox or other link.

Hi rappet,
You are THE ONE!

So face_off and you mean a lot for AC users like me, I think that it might be a serious shift for the worldwide Archicad community in terms of productivity and the design presentation quality.
Actually I was seduced to Octane by your video listed on Architalk forum -
http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/vie ... ane#235165.
"...I can say camera Animation with octane using the archicad plugin is very easy" - now I fully understand what you talking about!
So my blind going is to be finished much earlier!
BTW,
great minimalist architecture in that video, one that I love, usually not seen there.
Cheers

Hi Marek
Are you sure about it? Pla is above 1 GB file size.
My guess is that it might be something with the reported by AC missing textures or the non Latin letters in textures names or their long names...
Thanks for sending through that scene. The crash is happening inside ArchiCAD, when the plugin is requesting the 1120th Object out of 1245 Objects in the scene. I suspect this is a bug in AC18, but could be a corrupt AC scene too. Do you have an AC17 version of that scene you could try in AC17? I have reported the crash to Graphisoft - but not sent them the pla. If they ask for it, do you want me to send it - or not?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
It didn't matter which version, AC crushed in both, I've sent you 17 one.
But I'm glad you've asked about sending pla further.
This design is going through a building permit procedure now and I'm not sure about the legal aspects of sharing all the data in it over the internet.
So I'll try to remove all the 2D drawings and information which might be problematic legally and if the problem persists will send you pla to be freely distributed for the purpose of problem solution.
Thanks,
Marek

Hi Marek - it is a specific issue with a library Object, so if you delete everything else (walls, meshes, etc) it should (hopefully) still crash - and if you send me a version I can send to Graphisoft, that would help progress the issue.
